Do I need to remove any weather stripping already in the door before installing a new one?

You must remove the existing weatherstripping. If your house and doors were built after 1970, you should have no problem removing the old weatherstripping. Just pull it from the top, and it should come out. The new weatherstripping should easily push into the small channel left when you remove the old weatherstripping. You might need to cut a few inches off of the new weatherstripping but that should be the only alteration you need to make. I hope this helps.
