(These are general guidelines.)
Tools you'll need:
- Drill (with appropriate drill bits for pilot holes and screw size)
- Pencil
- Tape Measure
- Screwdriver
- Level (optional)
Here's how to install your Door Armor Double Door Security Kit:
- Prep and Measure: Close both doors. Using the tape measure, mark the center point on the top and bottom of the inactive door (the door that doesn't have the main handle).
- Jamb Shield Installation:
- Position the Jamb Shield (46" piece) against the door jamb on the lock side. Line up the center of the shield with the center marks you made on the inactive door.
- Optional: Use a level to ensure the Jamb Shield is straight.
- Hold the shield in place and mark the screw holes with a pencil through the designated holes on the shield.
- Pre-drill pilot holes at each marked point using the appropriate drill bit size for your screws.
- Secure the Jamb Shield to the door jamb using the provided screws.
- Door Shield Installation:
- Take one of the Door Shields (4" pieces) and position it centered on the top of the inactive door, aligning it with the previous marks you made.
- Repeat the process from step 2b for drilling pilot holes and screwing the Door Shield into place.
- Install the second Door Shield on the bottom of the inactive door using the same method.
- Hinge Shield Installation:
- Locate the Hinge Shields (4x 12" pieces).
- With one door closed, position a Hinge Shield over the hinge on the door jamb, aligning the rounded edge with the door jamb.
- One screw hole on the Hinge Shield should hopefully line up with an existing screw hole on the hinge itself.
- Use this hole for initial placement, marking additional screw points through the designated holes on the shield if needed.
- Pre-drill pilot holes and secure the Hinge Shield to the door jamb using the provided screws.
- Repeat this process for all four Hinge Shields, two on each door jamb.
