Tools You'll Need:
- Drill
- Permanent marker
- Tape (optional)
- Safety glasses (recommended)
What's Included:
- 1 Door Jamb Shield (46" length)
- 2 Door Shields (4" length each)
- 2 Hinge Shields (12" length each)
- 17 Self-tapping screws
Installation Steps:
- Prepare your door: Ensure your door is clean and free of debris. It's recommended to remove any existing strike plate covers.
- Install the Jamb Shield:
- Place the Jamb Shield on the inside of your door frame, aligning it with the strike plate area.
- Use a marker to mark the screw holes on the Jamb Shield through the pre-drilled holes onto the door frame.
- (Optional) Use tape to hold the Jamb Shield in place while marking.
- Pre-drill pilot holes in the marked locations on the door frame using your drill. (Tip: Pre-drilling helps prevent cracks and ensures smooth screw installation.)
- Secure the Jamb Shield to the door frame using the provided screws.
- Install the Door Shields:
- Position each Door Shield on the inside of your door, aligning them on either side of the door handle/knob.
- Mark the screw holes on the Door Shields through the pre-drilled holes onto the door.
- Pre-drill pilot holes in the marked locations on the door using your drill.
- Secure each Door Shield to the door using the provided screws.
- Install the Hinge Shields (if applicable):
- Note: Hinge shields are not included in the MINI Kit.
- Place each Hinge Shield on the inside of your door frame, aligning them with the top and bottom door hinges.
- Mark the screw holes on the Hinge Shields through the pre-drilled holes onto the door frame.
- Pre-drill pilot holes in the marked locations on the door frame using your drill.
- Secure each Hinge Shield to the door frame using the provided screws.
- Test and Enjoy!
- Once everything is installed, open and close your door to ensure smooth operation.
- Celebrate! Your door is now significantly more secure.
Additional Tips:
- Double-check all measurements and markings before drilling.
- Ensure your drill bit size matches the screw size.
- Wear safety glasses for protection while drilling.
- Consider having a helper hold the components in place while marking or drilling (especially for the Jamb Shield).
